The San José Fire Department is an advanced, diverse and progressive fire department situated in the Capital of Silicon Valley.
The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. The Department protects approximately 200 square miles of terrain that includes residential, commercial, high-rise, and wildland interface areas.

SAFER Firefighter - Lateral EMT and Paramedic Recruitment |

The San Jose Fire Department has successfully secured the 2010 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant and is accepting applications for Firefighter - Lateral (EMT) and Firefighter – Lateral (Paramedic) to fill grant-funded positions. The application filing period is Monday, October 31 through Thursday, November 10, 2011. Depending on Department need, preference may be given to Firefighter (Paramedic) candidates.
